Selecting traders whose strategies are worth following on a social trading platform can be akin to throwing darts at a dartboard. Blindfolded. ZuluTrade is no exception. Chances are you’ve attempted to mimic the trader boasting the biggest following or maybe you’ve gone with your emotions, and we all know where that can lead. Fortunately, there are signals you can look for to match your portfolio with the best trader who has the greatest potential to generate a profit on ZuluTrade. We recommend to read it before you start looking for your top traders to follow.
Follow ZuluTrade Traders: Difference between Demo vs. Live Account at ZuluTrade
When selecting a signal provider, aka a trader, take notice of the type of account they are using. Are they trading live or sending signals from a demo account? Considering that demo accounts have no balance limit attached, the expert trader could open as many trades as they’d like. As a result, the signals could be misleading to someone copying the strategy, like you.
For example, a trader may have up to 50 open positions of BUY USD/GBP with a balance of $100,000 or more. Meanwhile, you are trading with real funds from a limited account balance. As a result, your account probably doesn’t have the arsenal to copy all of the orders of a trader who is relying on a demo account.
The pro trader might also be using sophisticated tools. EA, for instance, is add-on software that is used with a MetaTrader currency trading platform and that automatically generates trading signals on the forex trader’s behalf. Your account, meanwhile, may be facing a margin call. Once the expert trader opens new positions, they can move in and out of positions positive while leaving you holding the bag.
The other option is a trader who provides signals from a live account. These traders use “real money” for orders in the market. It is a good rule of thumb to follow live traders using actual funds. A trader who is placing orders with their own money tends to be more calculated and cautious and is less likely to take on excessive risk.
ZuluTrade helps you to determine whether a signal provider is using a live or demo account by displaying an icon. Look for an area marked with a red rectangle. A green surrounding area reflects a live account and blue means the trader is in demo mode.
Carefully check your signal providers, read their strategies, and take the time to understand them. Keep in mind that most traders outline their strategies as a sales pitch, so you should never use someone’s declared strategies as a deciding factor for following them. Instead, try to see if the trader actually implements the strategies they brag about. Fortunately, ZuluTrade offers the entire history of all signal providers to help you make an informed decision.
To view the selection of signal providers, click the trader’s icon on the menu. To access more details of a trader’s performance, select “advanced” and you will gain access to more of the statistics surrounding this trader’s performance.
A filter section allows you to narrow down your search by picking and choosing the most important criteria to you.
You can select a trader that best fits your risk/return profile. Traders with the least drawdown demonstrate less risk. Traders who generate the highest returns might use a higher risk level. There are many options available that can be tailored to your preferences.
Below are some tips for selecting a signal provider:
- Look for a trader with a proven and profitable track record, ideally greater than 12 months.
- Look for a trader with a low historical drawdown, preferably less than 20%.
- Look for a trader boasting have high average pips per trade gains. Otherwise, you lose too much on slippage.
- Determine if the signal provider trades manually or uses EA, the latter of which is an automated system.
- Look for a trader who uses a short-term strategy, manages stop levels closely, and opens a limited amount of trades, all of which reduces drawdown.
- Determine if the signal provider is trading live, thereby using real money, or if they are in demo mode.
- Look for a trader boasting a clear description of their strategy and whose trades actually match the strategy.
- Look for a trader who is nimble and engaged who will adjust or intercept their EA when the market requires.

MixzFXTrader seems to be taking a high-risk, high-return approach. They also use EA, which is ideal when markets are soaring but can be very risky when the market is consolidating.
